PRESS RELEASE Wednesday 7 June 2006 HILLSIDE RURAL ACTIVITIES PARK CELEBRATE FOOTBALL FUNDING SUCCESS Footballers in Knayton were celebrating today following a £18,022 award by the Football Foundation, the UK's largest sports charity. The cash bonanza will allow Hillside Rural Activities Park to complete the drainage of the site and construction of a football pitch which forms a key part of the scheme which will also include a cricket pitch, tennis courts, scout/community hall, village showground and children's playground. The Football Foundation is dedicated to revitalising the grass roots of the game, constructing modern football facilities, developing football as a force for social cohesion and as a vehicle for education in communities throughout the country. Funded by the FA Premier League, The Football Association, Sport England and the Government, the Football Foundation is the nation's largest sports charity with a £45m budget going straight into the heart of football. Paul Thorogood, Chief Executive of the Football Foundation welcomed this latest funding boost: "We warmly congratulate Hillside Rural Activities Park for their hard work and dedication in securing this award. Grass roots football is the lifeblood of the game in this country which is why is vital that projects such as this now have the benefit of Foundation cash." Moray Finch, Chairman of Hillside Rural Activities Park commented: "This grant is a vital part of the funding package we have secured for this project and is very gratifying after all the hard work put in to get the project as far as we have so far.
